The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy and Marine Corps Medal to Ensign Orrin H. Wright, United States Navy, for heroism while serving as an Officer in a United States Submarine during a War Patrol of that vessel. His initiative, energy, and superior ability were direct contributing factors at all times toward the success of his ship and the prosecution of the war against Japan. His conduct throughout was an inspiration to the officers and men with whom he served and was in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
