(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Major General Donald P. Pettit, United States Air Force, was awarded the Air Force Distinguished Service Medal for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States as Commander, 45th Space Wing; Director, Eastern Range; and Deputy Department of Defense Manager for Manned Space Flight Support, Patrick Air Force Base, Florida, from 18 August 1999 to 31 July 2002. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of General Pettit culminate a long and distinguished career in the service of his country and his dedicated contributions reflect the highest credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
