The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Air Force Distinguished Service Medal to Major General Charles C. Pattillo (ASN: 0-826755), United States Air Force, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States. General Pattillo distinguished himself as the Deputy Director for Logistics, Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, from November 1971 to September 1973. In this important assignment, General Pattillo combined his broad military knowledge and comprehensive understanding of logistics with his dynamic leadership to promote the best interests of the United States in the international environment. Through the exercise of the highest sense of tact and degree of skill, General Pattillo inspired an immeasurable level of cooperation and constructive achievements in providing outstanding logistic support to the Armed Forces of the Untied States and its allies, thereby materially enhancing the effectiveness of national security programs of the United States. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of General Pattillo reflect the highest credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
