The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Air Force Distinguished Service Medal to Major General Robert Neville Ginsburgh (ASN: 0-26481), United States Air Force, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States. General Ginsburgh distinguished himself as Director, Office of Information, Office of the Secretary of the Air Force, from 8 April 1972 to 10 June 1974. In this important position, General Ginsburgh facilitated accurate news coverage of Air Force activities worldwide, including the critical air operations in Southeast Asia. He exercised the highest judgment in achieving a fine balance between the need for information by the public and the need to preserve national security. Through his vigorous and enthusiastic efforts, news was disseminated in an atmosphere of mutual respect between the Air Force and the news media. His counsel to the Secretary of the Air Force and the Chief of Staff, United States Air Force, in the field of public affairs has been invaluable. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of General Ginsburgh reflect the highest credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
