The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Air Force Distinguished Service Medal (Army Design) to General Frank Fort Everest (AFSN: 366A), United States Air Force, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during the period 1 August 1959 through 30 September 1961, while assigned as Commander, Tactical Air Command. Through his brilliant leadership in association with other tactical air commanders, General Everest effected a unified and fully-coordinated position concerning tactical air power both in satisfying immediate demands and in anticipating future requirements. This combined direction incorporated the needs of all tactical Air Force commands for economically feasible manned aircraft, mobile quick-reacting tactical ballistic missiles and modern transport aircraft thus insuring the continued ability of our Nation to meet its far flung treaty obligations. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of General Everest culminate a long and distinguished career in the service of his country and reflect the highest credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
