The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Air Force Distinguished Service Medal to General Teed Michael Moseley, United States Air Force, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States. General Moseley distinguished himself while serving as Vice Chief of Staff, United States Air Force, from 12 August 2003 to 2 September 2005. During this period, General Moseley’s compelling leadership and unwavering vision were instrumental in the Air Force meeting the demands of the Global War on Terrorism. His singular focus on meeting the needs of the warfighter ensured our Combatant Commanders had the most capable and lethal air forces in the world. In addition to fighting today’s war, General Moseley worked tirelessly to prepare the United States Air Force for future challenges. He used the Base Realignment and Closure process to structure the Air Force more efficiently and effectively. His commitment to the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve brought them new missions and capitalized on their unique strengths and abilities. General Moseley’s Herculean efforts as co-lead of the Joint Enablers Integrated Process Team shaped the Quadrennial Defense Review and ensured the Air Force is ready for tomorrow. His exemplary leadership, vision, loyalty and dedication resulted in significant contributions to the current and future effectiveness of the United States Air Force. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of General Moseley reflect the highest credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
