Headquarters, 84th Infantry Division, General Orders No. 24 (February 7, 1945)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to First Lieutenant (Field Artillery) Marvin R. Weinberg (ASN: 0-1183445), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 909th Field Artillery Battalion, 84th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in Belgium, on 22 January 1945. When the platoon which he was accompanying was temporarily delayed by intense and accurate fire from well-concealed enemy machineguns, First Lieutenant Weinberg, an artillery forward observer, without regard for his own safety, moved across open ground under continuous fire to a position from which he directed the placing of accurate artillery fire upon the enemy, silencing the hostile fire and enabling the platoon to continue its attack and accomplish its mission. The courage, daring and unswerving devotion to duty displayed by First Lieutenant Weinberg reflect the highest credit upon himself and the armed forces of the United States.
