The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Private Karl C. Warner (ASN: 32001133), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company G, 60th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division. From ** March 1943 to ** April 1943, at ********, Tunisia, Private Warner on several occasions exposed himself to enemy fire to observe and locate enemy positions which the assigned observers had failed to find. Private Warner reported his findings thus resulting in the elimination of enemy guns by our artillery. It was during this operation that Private Warner was fatally shot by enemy bullets. Private Warner’s brave and daring actions were greatly responsible for the success of his company and reflects the highest traditions of the Military Service.
