Headquarters, 9th Infantry Division, General Orders No. 84 (September 25, 1943)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Private Charles Urbancik (ASN: 36166593), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company **, 60th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division. On 29 March 1943, at ********, Tunisia, when his company was attacked by the enemy, Private Urbancik deliberately drew enemy fire upon himself, thus enabling other members of his squad to gain an advantage over the enemy. He was killed while exchanging fire with the enemy. His action was instrumental in repelling the attack; his conduct, gallant; and his extraordinary heroism far beyond the call of duty reflects the highest traditions of the Army of the United States.
