The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant Robert Teeter (ASN: 32029824), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company **, 60th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division. On ** April 1943, at **********, Tunisia, Sergeant Teeter volunteered to take his squad on a combat patrol. In the action his squad suffered five casualties. Several times Sergeant Teeter personally faced heavy machine gun and mortar fire and even though the enemy threw several hand grenades at him, he risked his life to get his fallen comrades back to safety. His excellent leadership and great concern for his men rather than himself resulted in the safe return of the entire patrol in the face of great odds. Sergeant Teeter’s gallant actions and selfless devotion to duty, without regard for his own safety, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
