The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Staff Sergeant William Roderiques (ASN: 11045826), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving as a Squad Leader with Company A, 20th Armored Infantry Battalion, 10th Armored Division, at Irsch, Germany, on 25 February 1945. When a tank column was halted by hostile bazooka fire, Staff Sergeant Roderiques, although wounded, organized a patrol and bravely led his men in destroying enemy positions. His gallant achievement reflects great credit upon himself and the military forces of the United States.
