Nowak (ASN: 36541786), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving as a Section Sergeant with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 20th Armored Infantry Battalion, 10th Armored Division, at Noville, Belgium, on 20 December 1944. Sergeant Nowak courageously advanced through intense enemy fire to evacuate a wounded comrade. His gallant achievement reflects great credit upon himself and the military forces of the United States.
