The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Corporal Glenn W. Murphy (ASN: 34113903), United States Army, for gallantry in action and disregard for personal safety while serving with Battery B, 83d Armored Field Artillery Battalion, in action against the enemy on 16 January 1945, at Belgium. Corporal Murphy’s outstanding gallantry and devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflects great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
