The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to First Lieutenant (Corps of Engineers) Stuart C. McArthur (ASN: 0-1115465), United States Army, for gallantry in action and disregard for personal safety while serving with Company C, 238th Engineer Combat Battalion, in action against the enemy on 9 October 1944, in Germany. First Lieutenant McArthur’s outstanding gallantry and devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflects great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
