Headquarters, 7th Armored Division, General Orders No. 39 (September 5, 1944)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Staff Sergeant Ernest D. Lucadamo, Jr. (ASN: 32159062), United States Army, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving with Company C, 38th Armored Infantry Battalion, 7th Armored Division, in action in France, on 17 August 1944. Sergeant Lucadamo, realizing that three men were seriously wounded and needed attention, left his rifle with another soldier and told him to cover him, and started down the street to bring the men back. He brought one back, returned for another and lifted him out of the half-track and was fired upon by a German machine gun. He succeeded in bringing the second man back and then, in spite of having been fired on, he worked his way back to the third man and brought him to cover. Sergeant Lucadamo was in constant danger, but through his quick thinking and resourcefulness, he saved the lives of three of his comrades. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, the 7th Armored Division, and the United States Army.
