The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Private First Class Morris Liddell (ASN: 32029771), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company **, 60th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division. On ** April 1943, at ********, Tunisia, Private First Class Liddell while engaged in the hazardous duty of stringing barbed wire in front of our positions was brought under hostile fire. Realizing the importance of this duty and with a complete disregard for his personal safety, Private First Class Liddell tenaciously continued his task until fatally wounded in the abdomen by an enemy sniper’s bullet. His splendid example of gallant heroism in making the supreme sacrifice typifies the finest traditions of Military Service.
