The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Terrence E. Kehoe (ASN: 4210708?), United States Army, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving with the 117th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, in action in Germany, on 12 April 1945. When enemy anti-tank fire struck the tank upon which Private Kehoe and several other members of his squad were riding, they left the tank and organized an assault to clear the town of the enemy. During the fight, Private Kehoe’s automatic rifle was shot from his hands, but he quickly obtained another from a man who had been wounded, advanced, and single-handedly wiped out a machine gun nest, taking two of its crew prisoner. By clearing the town of the enemy, Private Kehoe and his comrades enabled the task force of which they were members to resume its advance. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Private First Class Kehoe, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
