Isbell (ASN: 6994604), United States Army, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving with Battery **, *** Field Artillery, on ** December 1942, near ******, Tunisia. Sergeant Isbell displayed coolness and courage that inspired his gun section to continue its fire mission under heavy artillery fire. When hit and six of his men were wounded by shell fragments, he disregarded his own serious injuries and rendered aid to his men. His conduct exemplifies the highest traditions of the military service and reflects great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
