The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Technician Fourth Grade Lee A. Hodson (ASN: 06768767), United States Army, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action while serving with the 90th Signal Company, 90th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy near Rodenbach, Germany, on 1 April 1945. While transporting his radio to the rear in a vehicle, Technician Fourth Grade Hodson encountered elements of an enemy division. In a desperate effort to prevent his equipment from falling into enemy hands, he opened fire upon the troops. The hostile forces closed in on him, but he continued the firefight until he was mortally wounded.
