The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private Anthony Frascatore, United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with a Field Artillery Battalion of the 34th Infantry Division in Tunisia. During the day the section Private Frascatore was with was constantly harassed by artillery fire, and later in the day was bombed and strafed by enemy aviation and at night by machine gun fire. During the afternoon the supporting troops had moved. Rather than abandon the truck as well as the gun and ammunition, Private Frascatore, with a non-commissioned officer and another private, succeeded in winching out the truck and pulling the gun back to safety. Private Frascatore’s gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
