The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Lieutenant Colonel (Field Artillery) James Garland Dubuisson (ASN: 0-23042), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving as Commanding Officer of the 434th Armored Field Artillery Battalion, 7th Armored Division, in action in France, on 25 August 1944. Lieutenant Colonel Dubuisson, without regard for his personal safety, advanced under heavy artillery concentration and sniper fire and made a personal reconnaissance and called for and observed fire that neutralized the enemy artillery and permitted our troops to advance. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Lieutenant Colonel Dubuisson, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
