The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Corporal Emil A. Burkowski (ASN: 16144174), United States Army, for gallantry in action and disregard for personal safety while serving with Troop A, 4th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron (Mechanized), in action against the enemy on 20 December 1944, in Germany. Corporal Burkowski’s outstanding gallantry and devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflects great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
