The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Corporal Alfonso Camoesas (ASN: RA-11192641), United States Army, for gallantry in action against an armed enemy while serving as a Medical Aidman with the 32d Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division, in action in the vicinity of Koto-ri, Korea, on 8 December 1950. On this date, Corporal Camoesas was attached to a unit attacking in force to secure high commanding ground to protect the flank of a motor column. Corporal Camoesas observed two Marines seriously wounded and without regard for his personal safety, he advanced courageously in the face of murderous enemy automatic fire to the position of the two Marines. After completing the dressing of their wounds, he personally brought them to safety and unhesitatingly removed his overcoat and covered the men to protect them from the sub-zero weather. The gallantry displayed by Corporal Camoesas on this occasion reflects great credit on himself and the military service.
