The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Captain (Infantry) Frank Earl Blazey (ASN: 0-28693), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company E, 2d Battalion, 65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy in Korea. On 25 – 26 April 1951, near Tokchong, Korea, as Company E was occupying a defensive position on the Elgin Line, it was attacked by an enemy force of estimated regimental strength. Captain Blazey, company commander, forced to tighten his perimeter in the face of the heavy pressure exerted by the enemy, fearlessly moved through the intense enemy fire as he organized a defensive position around the command post. When the supply of ammunition became critically low, Captain Blazey, on three occasions, personally led a party through the heavy hostile fire to procure more. Throughout the entire action, his confident manner and vigorous exhortations were a source of inspiration to the members of his command. Captain Blazey’s superb gallantry and resourceful leadership reflects great credit upon himself and the military service.
