During this period, Captain Myers was engaged in night combat in Southeast Asia and also headed up a panel to evolve night combat tactics which was presented int wo forms, a Staff Study on Night Owl Tactics and a manual on Night Owl Tactics, which is also being adopted into the combat crew training in the United States. The exemplary leadership, personal endeavor, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Myers in this responsible position reflect great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Air Force.

    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Armand Jesse Myers (AFSN: FR-47337/0-3014044), United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an F-4C Aircraft Commander over Southeast Asia on 31 May 1966. On that date, while conducting night tactical fighter operations in an extremely heavily defended area, Captain Myers attacked and destroyed a vital target on the hostile force’s main railroad supply line. This target was highly important and Captain Myers, with complete disregard for his own personal safety, flew the entire low level route through heavy flak under hazardous night conditions to deliver ordnance on the target. The outstanding heroism and selfless devotion to duty displayed by Captain Myers reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
