The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Air Force Distinguished Service Medal to Brigadier General Alan Pierce Lurie, United States Air Force, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States. General Lurie distinguished himself as Commander, 25th Air Division, McChord Air Force Base, Washington, from 9 September 1984 to 30 June 1987. In this important assignment, he displayed dynamic leadership and insightful analysis of future requirements to improve the air defense capability of the forces under his command. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of General Lurie culminate a long and distinguished career in the service of his country and reflect the highest credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
