The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting a Third Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Fourth Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to Staff Sergeant Aaron D. Farrior, United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an HH-3E Pararescue Specialist in Southeast Asia on 18 November 1968. On that date, Sergeant Farrior successfully recovered two Air Force pilots from and extremely hostile area. Despite automatic weapons fire directed at his helicopter. Sergeant Farrior exposed himself in the open doorway while skillfully directing a precarious hover down into the trees to place the fully extended hoist cable within one survivor’s reach. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Sergeant Farrior reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
