The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Air Force Distinguished Service Medal to Brigadier General Jay Thomas Edwards, United States Air Force, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States. General Edwards distinguished himself as Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Materiel Management, Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics Operations, and Assistant to the Commander for International Logistics, Headquarters Air Force Logistics Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, from 1 August 1975 to 14 June 1978. In these important assignments, and as Commander of the Air Force Logistics Command International Logistics Center which he created, General Edwards displayed foresight and forceful leadership in contributing lasting improvements to Air Force Logistics Command management. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of General Edwards reflect the highest credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
