The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Air Force Distinguished Service Medal to Major General Robert D. Eaglet (AFSN: FR-74194), United States Air Force, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States. General Eaglet distinguished himself as Assistant Deputy to the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, and as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Management Policy and Program Integration to the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, the Pentagon, Washington, District of Columbia, from 7 July 1989 to 28 February 1991. In these important assignments, the leadership, exemplary foresight, and ceaseless efforts consistently demonstrated by General Eaglet resulted in significant improvements in the formulation and implementation of broad policy for managing Air Force acquisition programs, and established the architecture for baselining development and production programs to specified cost, schedule and performance parameters. His strong commitment as the United States representative on the F-16 steering committees with the five national European Participating Governments, and the FS-X with Japan, have led to significant advances in international cooperation to the benefit of free world security. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of General Eaglet culminate a long and distinguished career in the service of his country and reflect the highest credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
