The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Air Force Distinguished Service Medal to Brigadier General Frank Cardile (AFSN: FR-7077), United States Air Force, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States. General Cardile distinguished himself as Deputy Commander for Tactical Systems, and as Vice Commander, Electronic Systems Division, Hanscom Air Force Base, Massachusetts, from 25 July 1988 to 14 July 1991. During this period, General Cardile’s outstanding achievements and dynamic leadership and initiative resulted in the development, acquisition, and operational fielding of numerous command, control, communications, and intelligence weapons and support systems. These systems greatly enhanced the readiness and capability of the Air Force, Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and other combat forces. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of General Cardile reflect the highest credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
