The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Private Michael A. Dillon, United States Army, for bravery in repulsing the enemy’s charge on a battery, at Williamsburg, Virginia on 5 May 1862, while serving with Company G, 2d New Hampshire Infantry. At Oak Grove, Virginia, on 25 June 1862, Private Dillon crawled outside the lines and brought in important information.
