The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Major General Gleb Vladlmirovlch Baklanov, Red Army, Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (U.S.S.R), for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy while Commanding the 13th Guards Rifle Division (Poltava), Red Army, Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (U.S.S.R), in action against our common enemy, Germany, during World War II . Major General Baklanov’s outstanding leadership, personal bravery and zealous devotion to duty exemplify the highest traditions of the Armed Forces of the Allied Nations.
