The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Private Louis Gedeon, United States Army, for most distinguished gallantry on 4 February 1900, while serving with Company G, 19th U.S. Infantry, in action at Mount Amia, Cebu, Philippine Islands. Single-handed, Private Gedeon defended his mortally wounded captain from an overwhelming force of the enemy.
