When a numerically superior enemy force supported by intense artillery and mortar fire overran elements of his battalion, Colonel Daniel unhesitatingly proceeded to the besieged forces and gallantly led a successful counterattack upon the foe. Colonel Daniel’s tactical skill and aggressive actions repulsed the Germans and guarded the flanks of adjacent friendly units.
