The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Lieutenant Commander Robert H. Taylor, United States Navy, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action while carrying on his duties as Flag Lieutenant and Personal Aide to Rear Admiral Thomas C. Kincaid, USN, and as his assistant for operations and tactics and, later, on the staff of a carrier task force commander, during actions with enemy Japanese forces in the Southwest Pacific Area during World War II. Lieutenant Commander Taylor carried out his duties from dangerously exposed battle stations where he was repeatedly subjected to violent enemy aerial attacks. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Legion of Merit to Commander Robert Hudson Taylor, United States Navy, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States attached to the staff of Commander, North Pacific Force, from January to October 1943. Commander Taylor planned the execution of all operations, including effective routing of shipping and the development of anchorages, during a period of concentrated action in the Aleutian Islands area.
