(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: First Lieutenant Reece J. Woodard (MCSN: 0-27491), United States Marine Corps, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight, in action against enemy Japanese forces in the Southwest Pacific Theater of Operations during World War II. First Lieutenant Woodard completed twenty flights in a combat area where enemy anti-aircraft fire was expected to be effective or where enemy aircraft patrols usually occurred. His conduct throughout has distinguished him among those performing duties of the same character.
