The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Lieutenant Slade Deville Cutter, United States Navy, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action as Assistant Approach Officer of the U.S.S. POMPANO (SS-181), during three successive war patrols beginning on 18 December 1941.
