The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Second Lieutenant Parker L. Barnes (MCSN: 0-32080), United States Marine Corps, for heroism and extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight in connection with military operations against the enemy in the Ryukyu Islands on 28 May 1945. On that date, Second Lieutenant Barnes destroyed three enemy aircraft in aerial combat.
