Joe Wilson was commissioned in the Marine Corps in 1962. While serving, he graduated from Austin Peay State University with a B.S. in Social Science, and then received his Masters in Education from the University of Hawaii, and his Doctorate in Education from the University of Idaho in 1972. He retired in 1993 as a United States Marine Corps Brigadier General.
