Michael Williams enlisted in the Navy in 1960. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Class of 1967 and retired three decades later as a United States Marine Corps General after serving from September 8, 2000 to September 9, 2002 as the 28th Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps.
