Richard Trotter was commissioned in the Marine Corps upon graduation from the University of Georgia in 1956. He retired as a United States Marine Corps Brigadier General. His decorations and medals include: the Meritorious Service Medal, Organized Marine Corps Reserve Medal (3d Award), the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal.
