Johnny Thomas is a graduate of Appalachian State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree, Prairie View A&M University with a Master in Business Administration, and the Naval War College with a Master of Science in National Security and Strategic Studies. He was commissioned in the Marine Corps in 1973, and retired as a United States Marine Corps Brigadier General.
