Harvey Spielman attended Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa, for two years prior to enlisting in the Marine Corps Reserve. He was commissioned in 1944 and then returned to school to graduate from Parsons College in 1947. He retired as a United States Marine Corps Brigadier General in 1974.
