    The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant, Junior Grade Julian “H” Brady (NSN: 0-283202), United States Navy, for heroism and extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight on 12 October 1944. As pilot of a carrier-based torpedo plane making a glide bombing attack against enemy shipping and harbor installations in the Formosa area, he successfully executed his attack causing extensive damage to a strategically important target. His plane was attacked three times by enemy fighters and was hit and damaged twice. One enemy fighter was hit by the fire of his turret gunner and was last seen descending through the clouds in smoke and flames. Under the most difficult weather conditions and enemy fighter and anti-aircraft opposition, he successfully carried out his mission with unwavering courage and skill which at all times were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.

    The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy Cross to Lieutenant, Junior Grade Julian “H” Brady (NSN: 0-283202), United States Naval Reserve, for extraordinary heroism in operations against the enemy while serving as Pilot of a carrier-based Navy Torpedo Plane in Torpedo Squadron SEVEN (VT-7), attached to the U.S.S. HANCOCK (CV-19), in action against enemy Japanese forces in Philippine waters during the Air Battle of Leyte Gulf on 26 October 1944. as Pilot of a carrier-based Navy Torpedo Plane in a torpedo attack, Lieutenant, Junior Grade, Brady scored a destructive hit on a heavy cruiser of the Japanese Fleet, which contributed to its probable sinking. In the face of a severe barrage of anti-aircraft fire and the fast maneuvering of the target, he displayed outstanding skill and conspicuous unwavering courage in driving home his attack. His conduct throughout was in keeping with the highest traditions of the Navy of the United States.
