(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Captain Paul Joseph Knapp, United States Navy, was awarded the Legion of Merit with Combat “V” for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Commanding Officer, U.S.S. PRINCETON (LPH-5), and as Commander Task Group 76.5, from 9 October 1964 to 21 May 1965, for his work in the loading and distribution of supplies by PRINCETON for flood relief operations in the coastal plain sections of Vietnam and fore employing the first amphibious vertical envelopment in Vietnam during the amphibious landings at Chu Lai.
