The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Major General Cuthbert S. Wallace, Royal British Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during World War I. As eminent Consulting Surgeon, and while serving with the British Expeditionary Forces in France, with untiring zeal General Wallace devoted his time and energy toward promoting standard methods for efficient treatment of American sick and wounded, and unreservedly placed at the disposal of the medical service of the American Expeditionary Forces his eminent talents, broad experience, and knowledge of general conditions, with a view to assisting in the prevention of wastage among our forces from wounds and disease.
