The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Major General Paul Vidal, French Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during World War I. In Command of the 7th French Region, General Vidal was tireless in his devotion to our interests and to the success of our varied projects in the region of which he had charge. His relations with the American military authorities were always cordial and helpful. He always evinced personal interest in our plans and aided us materially by his sound advice.
