The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Captain of Artillery Edouard Verley, French Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during World War I. As Liaison Officer with the Troop Movement Bureau at G-4, General Headquarters, American Expeditionary Forces, Captain Verley solved many difficult transportation problems incident to active operations. No task proved too large or too small for him to accept, and he accomplished with distinction and unfailing courtesy his many duties, rendering services of great value to us.
