The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Captain George P. Thomas, Royal British Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during World War I. Captain Thomas rendered valuable services to the American Expeditionary Forces in connection with the training of American Artillery officers. He displayed high military attainments and a keen comprehension of conditions in the field. His service was continuously marked by devotion to duty, tireless energy and tact.
