The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Brigadier General Clive G. Pritchard, Royal British Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during World War I. The valuable service General Pritchard rendered to the American Expeditionary Forces in supplying our divisions with artillery while he was serving as Deputy Chief of Artillery, 4th British Army, will ever be remembered. Giving us the benefit of his brilliant experience as an artillerist he made an extended tour of American Artillery camps and thereby aided materially in bringing this branch of our arms up to the standard required for effective combat.
